America’s Vice President J. Amidst D. Vance’s remarks expressing love for Islamabad, two Republican lawmakers referred to the history of Qatar and Pakistan in harboring terrorists. US MP Rick Scott said in a post on Twitter on Monday (22 June 2026), ‘It should be clear to everyone by now who our real friends are. Qatar and Pakistan have a long history of harboring terrorists and at this time they appear to be more interested in supporting Iran’s decades-old terrorist campaign than in establishing a meaningful peace.
This comment of Florida MP Scott came at a time when Vice President Vance said in Switzerland, ‘We love Pakistan.’ Vance was there discussing technical aspects of a peace deal with Iran with the leaders of Pakistan and Qatar. Scott said, ‘There is still room for an agreement that is beneficial to all parties, but everyone must understand that the chances of Iran getting out of this situation and gaining the capability to make nuclear weapons are absolutely zero.

What did US MP Tim Sheehy say?
Tim Sheehy, US Congressman from Montana, in an interview to Fox News mentioned Pakistan’s role in harboring al-Qaeda chief Osama bin Laden. He said, ‘It should not be forgotten that Pakistan had kept Osama bin Laden hidden for almost a decade. It also provided financial support to the Ayatollah regime through its intelligence agency ISI. Sheehy said that if Pakistan and Qatar are present at the negotiating table, then the US should ensure that the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Israel and Saudi Arabia also participate in these talks. He said that the United Arab Emirates, Israel and Saudi Arabia are the real allies of America in West Asia.
Pakistan kept Osama bin Laden hidden
Tim Sheehy also alleged that Qatar has been laundering money for terrorist organizations for decades. Sheehy said, ‘The Pakistanis, through their intelligence agency ISI, financed insurgent activities against us and kept Osama bin Laden hidden. Therefore, I do not find it right to assume that he will play the role of an impartial arbitrator in this matter. Sheehy, who served in the US Navy SEALs, said, ‘I believe that we must ensure that we stand firmly and without hesitation with the UAE and Israel, because no matter what happens, they will remain our most leading and trusted partners in the region.’
What did US Vice President JD Vance say?
In fact, US Vice President JD Vance had said in a light-hearted manner on Sunday (21 June 2026) that Pakistani Army Chief Field Marshal Asim Munir is one of his favorite people. Vance said, ‘I would like to say that when Field Marshal Munir welcomed us with the Prime Minister in Islamabad, I jokingly said that there are two very, very important people in my life – an Indian and a Pakistani. The Indian is my wife and the Pakistani is Field Marshal Munir. Vance also said that during the last three months, he has had more conversations with Field Marshal Asim Munir than he has had with any other person.
