Latham and Conway made a partnership of 317 runs for the first wicket. This was the 15th partnership of 300 or more runs for the first wicket in the history of Test cricket. However, in terms of runs, the partnership came at 14th position in the ranking, that is, it was the 14th highest partnership for the first wicket in Test cricket. The thing to note is that Latham and Conway have made a partnership of 300 or more runs for the second time in Test cricket.

At present, the record of making the biggest partnership in the history of Test cricket is held in the name of Neil McKenzie and Graeme Smith of South Africa. Both of them had made a partnership of 415 runs for the first wicket in the match played against Bangladesh in 2008.
