Talks have been going on for a long time regarding the much-awaited trade deal between India and America. In such a situation, the biggest question is why this agreement has not been reached yet. Now US Ambassador to India Sergio Gore has explained the reason for this and said that now only a few issues are yet to be agreed upon between the two countries. He expressed confidence that this deal can be finalized in the coming few weeks or months.
‘Now only a few issues remain to be discussed’
Sergio Gore said while talking to news agency IANS that the recent meeting with US Trade Representative Jamieson Greer and Union Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal in New Delhi was very positive. He said that now most of the work is to prepare the final language of the agreement, which both the countries have to sign. He said that now only a few issues are left and the talks are moving in the right direction.

Reason given for delay in trade deal
Gore said that people often ask why it is taking so long to make a trade deal, but it is normal for such international agreements to take a long time. He told that India and America have been working on this agreement for about one and a half years, whereas talks on trade deal between America and the European Union have been going on for about 20 years and that too has not been completed yet. He said that the India-US trade deal is moving in the right direction and both the countries are very positive about it.

Modi-Trump meeting was important
The US Ambassador described the meeting between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President Donald Trump during the G-7 summit in France as very positive. He said that the two leaders discussed trade, defense and many important issues for more than an hour. Gore said that many such issues were discussed in this meeting, which will further strengthen the relations between the two countries in the future. He expressed hope that some big announcements may also be made in the coming weeks.
Praising India’s potential
Sharing his six-month experience in India, Gore said that he visited different parts of the country and saw closely the rapidly growing potential of India. According to him, there are immense possibilities for cooperation between India and America.

Focus will be on IT, medicine and defense sector
Sergio Gore said that India and America can work together on a large scale in pharmaceutical, IT, defense and many other sectors. He says that in the coming times, the economic and strategic partnership between the two countries will be stronger than before.
