- President Xi Jinping dismissed 13 NPC members.
- Six senior army officers dismissed in anti-corruption campaign.
- They held important military positions, leading to suspicious activities.
Chinese President Xi Jinping has recently dismissed six senior military officers as well as a total of 13 members of the country’s National People’s Congress (NPC) from their posts. This action of Jinping has come at a time when the President is in continuous action mode against corruption and indiscipline in the People’s Liberation Army (PLA).
A formal notification in this regard has been issued by the National People’s Congress (NPC), but the notification has not given detailed reasons against the officers dismissed from their posts. However, it is believed that this action is a part of the long-running anti-corruption campaign in China by President Xi Jinping.
Which officials were subjected to Jinping’s whip?
According to the notification issued by the NPC, the six senior military officers who have been dismissed from their posts by President Xi Jinping include the names of General Xu Xiuqiang, General Li Fengbiao, General Guo Pushiao, Wang Congping, Zhang Minghua and Yin Hongxing. Many of these officers have served in very important posts of the People’s Liberation Army (PLA) like various theater commands, cyber space force and equipment development department.
However, questions were being raised for a long time regarding the activities of these senior military officers. Apart from this, all of them remained absent from many important public programs for a long time. In such a situation, it is being said that keeping in mind their unexpected activities, major action has been taken against them by President Xi Jinping.
Why is action being taken against top officials in China?
In fact, after taking charge of power in China in 2012, President Xi Jinping launched a massive anti-corruption campaign across the country and under this campaign, till now, he has taken strict action against thousands of officials, including many senior military officers of the Chinese Army, and even directly dismissed them from their posts.
