15-year-old Suryavanshi was not given his debut against Ireland in which India lost the series 0-2, but Gavaskar believes that his time spent in the dressing room with the senior players has been very beneficial and he can prove to be a ‘surprise package’ in the five-match T20 International series against England.

In a conversation organized by Sony Sports, Gavaskar told reporters, “I am hopeful that he will play the first match because it will be the beginning of a new series and he can give the team a great start.” This is the best way to recover from the series defeat against Ireland.

He said, “How to include him in the team, it will be a really difficult task because both Abhishek Sharma and Sanju Samson have performed very well.” You don’t want to break a pairing that has given you good results.
