Five people have died, while 10 others have been injured in a major bomb blast on Thursday (July 2, 2026) in Al-Hijaz district of Syria’s capital, Damascus. The blast took place in a busy cafe near the Palace of Justice i.e. the Central Court located in central Damascus. At present, no organization has taken responsibility for this attack nor have the official reasons behind the incident been known.
Iraq Home Ministry gave information on the explosion
According to Al Jazeera’s report, Syria’s Interior Ministry has issued an official statement in this regard. In the statement, the ministry said that after the explosion in a cafe in Al-Hijaz area of the capital Damascus, security units have started investigation and necessary action on the spot. To ensure the safety of civilians and secure the entire area, security forces have completely cordoned off the incident site.
At the same time, according to Iraq’s government media Sana News, 5 people killed in the explosion and 10 other injured have been taken to Al-Mujtahid Hospital, while another injured was admitted to the Syrian Red Crescent Hospital.
The whole truth will be revealed in a few hours- Governor
According to Al Jazeera’s report, Damascus Governor Maher Marwan has condemned the explosion and strongly criticized it. He said that those responsible for this attack will not be spared under any circumstances. In the coming few hours the whole truth will be revealed and all those who have shed the blood of Syrian citizens will have to pay the price for it.
He said, ‘As long as Syria is united, such attacks cannot weaken the country. Major steps are being taken to strengthen Syria’s security system and the functioning of the Interior Ministry has improved significantly over the past few months.
It will take some more time for the situation in Syria to improve – Governor
Governor Marwan further said, ‘It will take some more time for Syria to become completely stable. The Home Ministry has done better work in the last few months. Although the situation was a bit difficult in the beginning, now the situation is continuously improving and those who want to harm Syria’s security will be brought to justice one by one.
He also said that the more stable Syria becomes, the more some forces will try to destabilize it.
