Padma Vibhushan Pandwani singer Teejan Bai is no more in this world. He died at the age of 70. Teejan Bai breathed her last at Raipur AIIMS. She was ill with something. Teejan Bai died at 3.15 am on Saturday morning. There has been a wave of mourning in the Indian folk art world due to his demise.
Tejan Bai gave recognition to folk art at the global level. He was awarded the Padma Vibhushan. Teejan Bai presented the stories of Mahabharata on stage and got special recognition in the Indian folk art world.
Teejan Bai received these awards and honors
Teejan Bai was awarded Padma Shri in 1988. In 1995, he was honored with the Sangeet Natak Academy Award. In 2003 he was honored with Padma Bhushan. In 2003 he received the Hon. Awarded D.Litt., Bilaspur University. Received M.S. Subbalakshmi Centenary Award in 2016. In 2019, he was awarded the Padma Vibhushan.

Teejan Bai was born in village Ganiyari of Bhilai. His father’s name was Hunuklal Pardha and mother’s name was Sukhwati. Talking about Tejan Bai’s personal life, she got married at the age of 12. She struggled a lot in her life, but Teejan Bai never gave up and gave recognition to folk art not only in the country but also abroad.
Let us tell you that at the age of 13, he gave a public performance for the first time in a neighboring village. He got Rs 10 for that performance. She sang in ‘Kapalik’ style of ‘Pandvani’, she was the first woman to do so.
