A major action has started against the book Great Personalities and Legends of Jammu and Kashmir, which glorifies terrorists and separatists in Jammu and Kashmir. After this book came into limelight, Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha has suspended eight employees. Late on Saturday night, Counter Intelligence Unit of Jammu and Kashmir Police has registered a case in this matter and raided the premises of the publisher.

Police raided book publisher’s shop, searched records

According to the information received by ABP News, Counter Intelligence Unit Jammu has registered FIR number 3/2026 under Section 49, 61(2), 152, 196, 353 of the Indian Justice Code and Section 13 of the UAP Act at Police Station Counter Intelligence Jammu to investigate this book. Raids are being conducted at the publisher’s premises. According to the police, till the filing of this report, physical and digital evidence has been seized.

Counter Intelligence Unit Jammu and in this case raided the shop of Oberoi Publishers, the publisher of this book and searched the records there. According to police sources, digital and physical records were seized from Oberoi Publisher’s shop.

The book was distributed in school libraries with the logo of Samagra Shiksha printed on it.

It is noteworthy that this book has been published under the overall education policy in the state. This book was sent to the libraries of all the government schools of Jammu and Kashmir. Great Personalities and Legends of Jammu and Kashmir (Series 4). This book has been published by private publisher ‘Oberoi Books Service’ and has been edited by Hilal Ahmed and Santosh Meena. The Jammu and Kashmir government had purchased it under the ‘Samagra Shiksha Yojana’ during the 2025-26 academic session.

The logo of Samagra Shiksha has been put on this book and it has been distributed in school libraries. In this book, special chapters have been given for terrorists and convicted persons like Maqbool Bhat, and separatist leaders like Syed Ali Shah Geelani, Shabbir Ahmed Shah, Masrat Alam, Mirwaiz Omar Farooq and Maulvi Farooq.

Amarnath Yatra: Devotees reached Jammu without registration, worried, said – register first, otherwise there will be problem.
