Many members of his family, the President, senior army officers and top religious leaders attended the last prayers. However, the most talked about issue is the absence of his successor and current Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei. Due to security reasons, he was not seen publicly at the funeral.
Khamenei’s son attended the last prayers
According to news agency AP, Ali Khamenei’s sons Masoud, Maysam and Mustafa attended the last prayers. At the same time, Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) commander Ahmed Wahedi was also present during this period. According to the report, Ali Khamenei’s son and his successor Mojtaba Khamenei did not attend the funeral.
It has been reported that security agencies considered it risky for him to appear in public after Israel threatened to target him too. For this reason he did not participate publicly in the funeral.

Top religious leader offered last prayers
According to Iran’s government news agency IRNA, the country’s senior religious leader Ayatollah Jafar Sobhani offered the last prayers of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and four other members of his family.
Many big leaders including the President were present
Iranian President Masoud Pejeshkian, Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf and Judiciary Chief Gholamhossein Mohsani Ezei also attended the funeral. Apart from this, IRGC’s Quds Force commander Ismail Qani was also present in the last prayers.

Funeral rituals taking place in Tehran
Funeral ceremonies for Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and four other members of his family are being held in Tehran on Saturday. Meanwhile, US President Donald Trump said in a conversation with Axios that relations between him and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu are good. Talking about himself, Trump said, ‘Netanyahu knows who is the boss.’
Ships changed course in Hormuz Strait
Meanwhile, ship monitoring company Windward said that four ships trying to pass through the Strait of Hormuz changed their course. Two of these ships returned, while two others left the southern sea route of Oman and turned towards the central sea route closer to Iran.
