The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Monday (06 July) announced the 15-member Team India for the three-match T20 series against Zimbabwe. The name of wicketkeeper batsman Sanju Samson was missing from the squad. Whereas fast bowler Mayank Yadav returned. Apart from this, some uncapped players have also been made a part of the squad. The series will start from July 23, for which Team India will tour Zimbabwe. All matches will be held in Harare.
15 year old Vaibhav Suryavanshi has also been given a place in this series. For example, in the second T20 against England, Vaibhav was included in place of Sanju in India’s playing 11. Similarly, Vaibhav has been given a chance in place of Sanju in the squad. However, the board has not given any reason for Sanju’s exclusion.
Mayank Yadav and Rinku Singh return, uncapped players also get a chance
Fast bowler Mayank Yadav, who was out of action due to injury for the last two years, has also been made a part of the team. He played his last match for India in October 2024. Apart from this, left handed star batsman Rinku Singh has also returned. Rinku played the last match for Men in Blue in February this year. He did not get a place in the Ireland and England T20 series.
Uncapped fast bowlers Yash Thakur, Ashok Sharma and wicketkeeper batsman Prabhsimran Singh were included in the team. Yash and Prabhasimran play for Punjab Kings. Ashok Sharma is a part of Gujarat Titans.
