Airlines News: These days air travel is all the rage in India. Due to the circumstances seen in the past, people have reduced traveling abroad to some extent. But domestic flights are very full. We are not saying this but this has been revealed in the DCGA report. According to the data in this report, about 1.5 crore passengers have traveled by domestic airlines.

Disclosure in DCGA report
In fact, the recent DCGA report has revealed that during May 2026, about 1.53 crore passengers traveled by domestic flights in India. This number is about 11% more than the 1.38 crore passengers in April. At the same time, the number of domestic air passengers has increased by 9.49% as compared to May last year.

According to the monthly report of DGCA, 729.40 lakh passengers traveled by domestic airlines between January and May 2026. During the same period last year, this figure was 715.70 lakh. That is, an increase of 1.91% was recorded in the number of passengers during this period.

INDIGO becomes the largest airline
According to this report, IndiGo remained the largest airline in the country, although its market share declined to 64.9%. Whereas Air India Group’s stake increased to 25.6%. Akasa Air’s share remained stable at 5.8%, while SpiceJet’s share declined to 2.5%.

Who is ahead in terms of flying on time?
Apart from this, Indigo also remained at the forefront in terms of taking off on time. In May, 82.8% of IndiGo flights at 10 major airports of the country were on time. It was followed by Akasa Air (78.3%) and Air India Group (74.5%). Alliance Air’s punctuality was 70.5%, while SpiceJet’s performance was the weakest with only 26.5% of its flights being on time.

How many flights were cancelled?
It has also been told in this report that 0.55% flights were canceled in May. 63,723 passengers were affected by this. Airlines spent Rs 70.32 lakh on providing compensation and other facilities to these passengers. Apart from this, more than 1.77 lakh passengers faced delays in flights. At the same time, 900 passengers were not allowed to board the plane due to various reasons.
