Now TV-9 has claimed in a report quoting Cricbuzz that after scoring single digit scores in three consecutive matches, Sanju Samson himself had expressed his desire to sit out of the second T20. For this reason Vaibhav Suryavanshi got a chance to debut. However, this claim has not been officially confirmed by the Indian Cricket Board.
The report also says that there is no lack of trust between the team management and Sanju Samson. The team considers him an important part of its future plans. Especially his role is being considered important in the preparations for T20 World Cup 2028.
However, the real controversy is more about the team for the Zimbabwe tour than the second T20 of the England tour. Sanju Samson’s name was not included in the recently announced Indian T20 team against Zimbabwe. Prabhasimran Singh was given a chance in his place. After this, questions started being raised whether Samson is now out of Team India’s plans.
Some reports quoting sources associated with the team said that Samson has been given rest. On the other hand, some news claimed that the selectors are now showing more confidence in other options. At present no official statement has come out on these claims either.
Sanju Samson has been a part of the Indian team for a long time and has shown his ability to win matches with his batting on many occasions. In such a situation, only the upcoming series and future team announcements will make it clear what his role is going to be.
