Team India, captained by Shreyas Iyer, had to face a crushing defeat in the third T20 against England last Tuesday (07 July). Chasing 201 runs, the Indian team was all out for just 76 runs in 11.4 overs. England won by 125 runs. After the match, English fast bowler Joffra Archer made fun of Team India. He told how playing in IPL with flat pitch and small boundaries made it difficult for Indian batsmen.
In the press conference, Archer was asked how he changed his plans for England after bowling to many Indian batsmen in the IPL. Responding to this, Archer first said, “I think now I am back to normal.”
IPL’s flat pitch and small boundaries…
The English pacer told that in IPL the pitch is easy i.e. flat and the boundaries are small. There you have very little chance of making a mistake.
He said, “You try to bowl straight to good length. Whereas there, the wicket is very easy and the boundaries are very small. So you have to be very careful. Here I think your margin of error is a bit more.”
Archer further said, “Sometimes in IPL, a total of 200 is not safe. With 200 on that wicket, I don’t want to say that I was confident, but I felt that it would take a really special innings to chase it. I am happy that everyone contributed. Everyone who bowled today got wickets. So it was a great and complete performance of bowling.”
England leads 2-0 in the series
By winning the third match, England has taken a 2-0 lead in the series. The first match was lost to rain. After this, England won the next two matches. Now Team India will have to win the next match at any cost to save the series. The next i.e. fourth match will be played on 09 July (Thursday).
