There is an uproar over Sanju Samson’s drop from Team India. He has not got a place in the Indian squad for Zimbabwe tour. First he was dropped from the playing eleven of the second T20 match against England and then he was dropped from the team itself. Now former cricketer Mohammad Kaif is furious over this decision and an old fear has started troubling him.
Mohammad Kaif says that the Indian team is once again repeating the mistake of the T20 World Cup, where two bad batsmen were being given a chance in the opening. But with the arrival of right-handed batsman Samson, the opening combination was fine. Samson had made an important contribution in making India the world champion by scoring three consecutive half-centuries in the last 3 matches of the World Cup.
world cup mistake
On his YouTube channel, Mohammad Kaif said that the Indian team is repeating the mistake of the World Cup. At that time Ishan Kishan and Abhishek Sharma were opening, but both of them started getting out continuously against the off-spinners. Samson was not playing before the team suffered a huge defeat in the World Cup. He said that the same situation has emerged again. When Team India lost against Ireland, changes were made.
Kaif further said, “The right and left hand opening combination is the best that we have seen in the World Cup. We were in trouble against the off-spinners, but that problem was solved with the arrival of Sanju. You are repeating the same mistake again. Vaibhav Suryavanshi and Abhishek Sharma cannot be seen as a long-term opening pair, there a right-left hand combination is necessary.”
Samson dropped from Zimbabwe tour
Indian management has dropped Sanju Samson from the Indian squad for the T20 series against Zimbabwe. Three T20 matches are to be played between India and Zimbabwe from July 23-26.
