Household Income: Busy cities like Mumbai- Delhi, where inflation is high and crowd of people is also high. To survive in these cities, the earning of just one member of the family is not enough, rather the entire family should join hands in this, and this also happens. But recently a data has come out, which has revealed that Mumbai is not just Delhi but there is also a city where the household income is higher than these cities.

Which city is at the forefront?
According to the data of the year 2025-26, Bengaluru has overtaken Delhi and Mumbai in terms of average household income. Bengaluru is at the top in terms of highest household income in the country, while the country’s capital Delhi is at third place and Mumbai, also known as Mayanagari, is at fifth place.

Paytm founder revealed
These figures came into discussion when the founder of Paytm shared a post. Vijay Shekhar Sharma has shared a post through his official X (Twitter) account. In this post, he has given these figures based on PRICE and Tata Sons’ research 2025-26. Along with the post, he wrote in the caption, ‘Delhi is at third place, Mumbai is at fifth place in household income of every house. Bengaluru and Chandigarh are on top of the list.

What is the income of top 5 cities?
According to this chart, Bengaluru is at the forefront, the average annual income of a family here is around Rs 28 lakh, which is the highest in the country. Along with this, Chandigarh is also on par with it in the list. The income of both the cities is almost the same, hence Chandigarh is at second place in this list. Whereas Delhi is at third place with an average annual household income of around Rs 26 lakh. After this, Vadodara is at fourth place and Mumbai is at fifth place in this list with an average income of around Rs 25 lakh.

The difference in income of many cities is less
According to this chart, the income gap between many cities is very small. In which the average household income in Pune, Thiruvananthapuram, Surat and Hyderabad is around Rs 22 lakh to 24 lakh annually. So the average income in Coimbatore is around Rs 20 lakh. Whereas in Ahmedabad, Kochi and Chennai this figure is around Rs 19 lakh annually.

According to this ranking, there are also small cities like Tiruppur, Jaipur, Lucknow, Kolkata, Madurai, Ranchi and Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar. The average household income in these cities is between Rs 15 lakh to Rs 18 lakh annually.
