The test match between India and England is going to write a new history. In fact, the only test of the series between India and England women’s cricket teams is going to start from Friday, July 10. The first Test match in men’s cricket was played in 1884, while the first Test for women’s teams was played in 1934. 142 years have passed since the Test format started, but till now no women’s Test match has been played at Lord’s ground.
India and England will create history
The test match between India and England will be played at Lord’s ground from July 10. This will be the first time in the 142-year history of Test cricket that Lord’s ground will be hosting a women’s Test. The first women’s international match was played here in the year 1976. In that ODI match, England defeated Australia by 8 wickets.
Indian women’s cricket team coach Amol Majumdar was also unable to believe the fact that the first women’s Test would be played at Lord’s. He said that this will be a special and historic moment.
The Test match between India and England will also be historic because till about 28 years ago, there was a ban on women coming to the world famous Lord’s Pavilion. Women were not even allowed to become club members, but this ban was removed in the year 1998. After 28 years, for the first time a women’s Test will be played at Lord’s ground.
Indian team’s dominance
India and England women’s teams have come face to face 15 times in Test cricket. Team India is ahead in head to head record. So far, India has won three times in 15 matches while England has won only one. 11 matches of both have ended in draw. After 1995, England has never been able to defeat the Indian team in a Test match.
