Team India, which became champion by winning the T20 World Cup four months ago, is struggling with continuous defeats these days. Shreyas Iyer was given the captaincy in place of Suryakumar Yadav, while experienced players like Hardik Pandya and Jasprit Bumrah are not part of the team. Head coach Gautam Gambhir is busy preparing a new team, but the continuous defeats cannot be ignored by simply calling it a period of change.
Batting and captaincy became a concern
Shreyas Iyer’s bat has also not been consistent. In the last five innings he has scored 3, 10, 68, 37 and 5 runs. Questions have also been raised on some decisions during his captaincy. Due to continuous changes in the batting order, the role of the players is also not clearly visible. Indian batsmen have not been able to adapt themselves to the seam and swing conditions of England and Ireland. The aggressive batting of IPL did not prove effective here. Ishan Kishan and Abhishek Sharma definitely played some good innings, but could not show consistency.
Selection and bowling also in question
Sanju Samson was dropped from the team after three bad innings, while 15-year-old Vaibhav Suryavanshi, who was replaced in his place, has also not been able to play big innings so far. In such a situation, questions are also being raised regarding team selection. The lack of experienced players is clearly visible in bowling also. The absence of Jasprit Bumrah and Hardik Pandya has affected the balance of the team. Young bowlers are getting opportunities, but lack of experience is visible in pressure matches.

The biggest strength of the Indian team that won the T20 World Cup was to change its game according to the circumstances. The current team wants to play in the same aggressive style, but is not succeeding in adapting itself to the circumstances. In such a situation, if Team India has to return to the path of victory, then apart from trusting new players, it will also need a clear strategy and better decisions.
