There is big news for students who dream of making a career in the field of Ayurveda. Central Sanskrit University has released the notification of National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test-Pre Ayurveda (NEET-PA) for the academic session 2026-27. Under this new system, now students who have passed 10th along with Sanskrit from any recognized board will be able to take admission in Pre-Ayurveda program and further study BAMS and will be able to decide the path of becoming Ayurveda doctor.

Opportunity to get admission in Ayurveda Gurukuls across the country

This program started by the university is approved by the National Commission for Indian Systems of Medicine (NCISM). It will be operated in various Ayurveda Gurukuls across the country affiliated with Central Sanskrit University. The aim of this initiative is to effectively transmit traditional knowledge to the new generation by combining Sanskrit education and Ayurveda.

The curriculum is based on national education policy and Indian knowledge tradition.

Vice Chancellor of Central Sanskrit University, Prof. Srinivas Varkhedi said that this course has been prepared keeping in mind the National Education Policy (NEP) and Indian knowledge tradition. According to him, it is relatively easy for students studying Sanskrit to understand the basic texts, codes and classical concepts of Ayurveda. The Gurukul based teaching model will also help in giving new recognition to the traditional authenticity of Ayurveda at the international level.

The application process will start from the third week of July

University Controller of Examinations Prof. According to Pawan Kumar, the online application process for NEET-PA will start from the third week of July. The entrance examination is planned to be conducted in the last week of August or the first week of September. The examination will be conducted at designated examination centers across the country.

The entire educational program will be completed in seven and a half years

This integrated course will be of total duration of seven and a half years. The first two years are devoted to the Pre-Ayurveda Gurukulam programme. After this, BAMS course of four and a half years will be conducted. Finally, a mandatory internship of one year will have to be completed, after which the students will be able to move forward in the field of Ayurvedic medicine.

Know who can apply?

Candidates applying for this program must have passed 10th from any recognized board. A minimum of 50 percent marks has been prescribed for general category candidates, while minimum 40 percent marks will be mandatory for reserved category candidates.

No category will get relaxation in age limit

For admission, the minimum age of the candidate should be 15 years and maximum age should be 25 years till 31st December. The University has clarified that there is no provision for relaxation in age limit for any category of candidates.

NEET-PA entrance exam will be conducted like this

NEET-PA exam will be conducted on OMR sheets in offline mode. Candidates will get 150 minutes i.e. two and a half hours to solve the question paper. A total of 120 multiple choice questions will be asked in the examination and each question will be of one mark. There will be no negative marking in this examination. The question paper will be made available in all three languages, Sanskrit, Hindi and English, so that students from different backgrounds can get convenience.
