When an Indian died in Hormuz due to Iran’s attack, India said in anger – ‘Stop targeting the ships’

India on Tuesday (July 14) strongly condemned the attacks on commercial ships in the Strait of Hormuz. India said that these attacks are incidents of violence targeting sailors and hindering free and safe movement on international waterways such as the Strait of Hormuz. This statement came when the Ministry of External Affairs summoned the Deputy Chief of Mission of the Iranian Embassy in New Delhi.

The Ministry of External Affairs lodged a strong protest against the missile attack on two ships passing through Hormuz. An Indian sailor died and many others were injured in this attack. The Ministry of External Affairs has expressed deep concern over the attacks on UAE flagged ships ‘MT Al Bahia’ and ‘MT Mombasa’.

Of the total 46 crew members of these two ships, 30 were Indians. The Ministry of External Affairs has also expressed concern over the repeated attacks and increasing hostility in West Asia. India has appealed to immediately stop the violence and adopt the path of dialogue and diplomacy to maintain peace, security and stability in the region.

What did the Foreign Ministry say
The Ministry of External Affairs said in the statement that attacks on commercial shipping and infrastructure vital to the common people in the region should stop, so that movement and trade through waterways can be resumed as soon as possible without any hindrance in accordance with international laws. According to the ministry, out of the 12 Indian nationals aboard the ship ‘MT Al Bahia’, one died and one other was injured. Of the 18 Indians aboard MT Mombasa, 9 were injured, out of which the condition of 2 is said to be critical.

The ministry said that India’s mission in UAE is closely monitoring the situation and is in touch with UAE authorities to provide all possible help to the affected Indian crew members. India also said that the Deputy Chief of Mission of the Iranian Embassy in New Delhi was summoned on Tuesday morning and a strong protest was lodged with him over the attacks.
