IPL is the richest cricket league in the world. Such claims came to light that there was a huge decline in the business value of the Indian Premier League in the last two financial years. But according to a recent report, IPL has made huge profits in the last one year.
In the year 2025, the International Institute of Sports and Management (IISM) had released a report, in which IPL was placed second after NFL in terms of business value. The valuation of IPL at the end of 2025 was said to be $18.5 billion.
IPL broke all records
Now in a report released by Houlihan Lokey, the business value of IPL has increased by 11.4 percent. It has increased to 20.6 billion dollars, which is equivalent to about Rs 1.96 lakh crore. Now only the American Football League (NFL) is ahead of the Indian Premier League in terms of business earnings.
If we look at the brand value of IPL, it has increased by 10.3 percent. The brand value of IPL has now reached 4.3 billion dollars. It is said that when IPL started in 2008, its brand value was around 1.1 billion dollars, but in the next 19 years it has increased manifold.
How is IPL earned?
Indian Premier League is operated by BCCI. This league has become a huge source of income for BCCI. Some of the main sources of income of IPL are earnings from media and broadcasting rights, title sponsorship, official partners. IPL is moving towards becoming the biggest sports league in the world. In the year 2022, the number of teams was increased from 8 to 10.
