India’s young batting sensation Vaibhav Suryavanshi has been named the vice-captain of the East Zone team for Duleep Trophy 2026. This is another achievement in his rapidly growing career. Suryavanshi, who recently won the ‘Player of the Series’ award during India’s tour of Zimbabwe, will play under the captaincy of Ishan Kishan. Ishan Kishan has been named the captain of the East Zone team for this prestigious red-ball tournament starting from August 23 in Bengaluru.
Becoming the vice-captain is another big success for this young player who made his international debut on the England tour earlier this month. After consistently stellar performances in Indian and domestic cricket, Suryavanshi has now been handed the leadership responsibility in one of India’s premier domestic tournaments. It is expected that he will open with experienced Bengal opener Abhimanyu Easwaran. Easwaran is returning as the most experienced player of the team having played more than 100 first-class matches.
