In an eaterview with lawyer and politician Kapil Sibal, Javed Akhtar criticized the comments made by Asami Munir, calling him ‘insensitive’. He said, “No country is the same. Not every citizen of a country can be the same. If the government of a country is bad, then it will affect its citizens first … Our issue should be only with the government, army and extremists, our entire sympathy should be with those innocent people who are suffering due to them.”
Why are you abusing Hindus?
Javed Akhtar said, “I saw the speech of his army chief on YouTube. How insensitive person seemed to be. Yes, if you think we are bad then why are we abused Indians, but why are you abusing Hindus? Do they not realize that there is a population of Hindus in Pakistan too? Do you not respect your people? Do you not understand what kind of men?”

Javed Akhtar further said, “One of his missiles is named Abdali. Abdali attacked Muslims! He is your hero? What is your hero? It is as if a boy on the streets of Delhi knows Shahrukh Khan, my friend Shahrukh Khan does not know who you are!
Pakistani army does not respect its people either
Akhtar narrated an anecdote by the Pakistani army to clarify his point about not respecting his people. He said, “Another truth that Pakistanis should face, is that when a soldier dies, we salute him, but when Pakistani soldiers were killed in Kargil, they did not even claim them for their bodies. Indians gave them proper cremation. One of our top rank soldiers took pictures of his martyred soldiers, made it album and presented it to Pakistan. I accepted it unofficially. “
