If you are employed and cut PF from your salary every month, then there is good news for you. The government has approved 8.25 percent interest rate on EPFO for FY 2024-25. That is, this year also you will get the same interest that was received last year and that too without any deduction.
After the seal of the government, now interest will come to the account
The EPFO (Employees Provident Fund Organization) had decided on 28 February 2024 that the interest rate would be 8.25 percent this year too. After this the proposal was sent to the Ministry of Finance. Now the Finance Ministry has also given its consent on this. That is, soon this interest amount will be credited in PF accounts of more than 7 crore account holders across the country.
More than 7 crore people will be benefited
According to the Ministry of Labor, this decision was taken in the 237th meeting of EPFO, which was chaired by Union Labor and Employment Minister Mansukh Mandavia. This interest rate is considered much better than the other fixed-incompatible options of the market. Especially for those who find safe investment for after retirement.
How is the track record of EPF interest rates?
EPFO had increased the interest rate of 8.25 per cent for FY 2023-24 in February 2024, which was 8.15 per cent in 2022-23. But if you go back a little, then in the year 2021-22 this rate was reduced to 8.10 percent, which was the lowest after 1977-78. At that time it was the lowest level of nearly four decades.
14.6 lakh new members connected to EPFO in March
Not only interest, the network of EPFO is also increasing continuously. In March 2025, 14.6 lakh new members joined EPFO, out of which more than half of the people first came to the PF scheme. Not only this, due to the activation and awareness campaign of EPFO, new joining has increased by 2.03 percent monthly and 0.98 percent year after year.
So is EPF still the best investment?
EPF means Employees Provident Fund not only saves tax, but also gives good returns in a long time, that too without risk. At a time when the rest of the fixed deposits and savings schemes are going downwards, the interest of 8.25 percent of the EPF is still considered quite attractive.
