Kirtan reality show: In Maharashtra, Sony Marathi channel launched India’s first reality show ‘Kon Honar Maharashtra Boy Kirtakar’ based on Bhakti singing tradition Kirtan. Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis also attended the program. Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis launched at the grand ceremony and also unveiled the size of the iconic veena symbol of the tradition of devotional music.
Not a show but a cultural movement
On this occasion, Devendra Fadnavis said, “The rich spiritual heritage of Maharashtra has always been its strength and the kirtan is at the center of that legacy. It has educated and united generations through devotion and storytelling. I appreciate Soni Marathi that he created a platform that reaches the new generation. Not a show but a cultural movement that will carry forward our sacred heritage.
Prominent celebrities from the Kirtan community also joined
The show is respected for the tradition of telling spiritual story with 108 contestants representing 36 districts of Maharashtra. Maharashtra CM along with Gaurav Banerjee, MD and CEO of Sony Pictures Network India, Kirtan community also attended the event held in Mumbai. A kirtan of Avadhoot Sudhir Gandhi was also introduced at the launch event. HBP Radhatai Sanap and HBP Jagannath Maharaj Patil was honored for his significant contribution in the Kirtan tradition. HBP Radhatai Sanap did important work through his fancifles to increase awareness in important social issues, especially education and social welfare areas.
When will Kirtanakar premiere on Sony Marathi?
HBP Jagannath Maharaj Patil used his kirtan to address important topics. The Chief Minister also honored the descendants of the prestigious saints of Maharashtra to preserve the rich tradition. HBP among the attendees Madhav Maharaj Namdas (descendants of Sant Namdev Maharaj), Ravikant Maharaj Wassekar (descendants of Sant Savata Maharaj), Jabbar Maharaj Sheikh (descendants of Sant Sheikh Muhammad), Bapusaheb Maharaj Dehukar (descendant of Sant Tukaram), HBP. Janardan Maharaj was Jaganade (descendants of Santji Jagandede) and Gopalbuva Makashir (descendants of Sant Nilobarai). The show ‘Kon Honar Maharashtracha Boy Kirtakar’, which brought out the centuries -old practice of Kirtan in a new style, will be premiered on Sony Marathi on 1 April.
