Telangana government: The government has taken a big decision in view of promoting business in Telangana. Orders have been issued to allow employees to work for 10 hours per day, while working for 48 hours per week is allowed to work for 10 hours per day.
According to an order issued by the state’s labor, employment, training and factory department on Saturday (July 5, 2025), this exemption has been given under the Telangana Shops and Establishment Act, 1988 (Act No. 20 of 1988).
‘It is necessary to give a break of at least 30 minutes for working more than 6 hours’
According to the report of India Today, in the notification issued by the state government, such establishments have been exempted from sections 16 and 17 of the Act, which are related to hours and relaxation intervals under specific terms. According to the official order, the weekly work limit should not exceed 48 hours. The work done beyond these boundaries will be considered eligible for overtime salary. Also, if employees work more than six hours per day, then they should be given a break of at least 30 minutes.
Employees will have to pay additional salary on overtime
Apart from this, the total time of work and comfort should not be more than 12 hours a day. Employees may be allowed to work more than 48 hours a week on overtime salary, but no more than 144 hours in any quarter.
The government has clearly stated that the exemption given to the company concerned will be canceled for violating these conditions. This order will be effective after publication in the Telangana Gazette on Tuesday (July 8, 2025).
