Earlier, this feat was recorded only in the name of Indian veteran Sunil Gavaskar. Gavaskar played two tremendous innings of 101 and 58 runs in the Manchester Test in 1974. On the basis of his batting, India scored a score of 246 runs in the first innings. In response, the England team scored 328/9 runs. In the second innings too, Gavaskar contributed 58 runs, facing 140 balls. However, in that match, Team India had to face defeat by 113 runs.

Now in 2025, when the Indian team has come out to play a Test match at Old Trafford after a decade, Yashasvi Jaiswal gave a concrete start to the team by making a 94 -run opening partnership with KL Rahul and completed his 12th Test half -century in the second session. Let us tell you that India has played only two Test matches in Manchester in the last two decades. In 1990, Sachin Tendulkar made the first Test century of his career on this ground.
