India’s star batsman KL Rahul can be seen playing for a new team in IPL 2026. A media report has revealed that 3 -time IPL champion Kolkata Knight Riders have shown interest in trading Rahul. KL Rahul played for Delhi Capitals in IPL 2025, but now according to the Times of India, KKR wants to bring Rahul into his team. Team officials have also expressed their desire in this regard.
A source quoted by the Times of India said, “This trade may not be successful because KKR does not have any player that he can trade with Delhi Capitals instead of KL Rahul.” Abhishek Nair can be a reason for the Kolkata team to show interest in Rahul, who is the assistant coach of the KKR team. If Rahul comes in KKR, then he can also be offered captaincy.
As long as Abhishek Nair remained the assistant coach of the Indian team, many times he was exposed to good bonding with KL Rahul. Some credit for Rahul coming back to form in white ball cricket also goes to Abhishek Nair. Rahul himself has accepted this.
During the IPL, KL Rahul had said that, “I have done the white ball game much better in the last one year, the credit goes to Abhishek Nair. I have learned a lot from him after he came to the Indian team. We would discuss the same hours that I would discuss how my white ball game could be better.”
Talking about Kolkata Knight Riders, this team finished eighth in the IPL 2025 points table, while KKR became the champion under the captaincy of Shreyas Iyer in the last season. Talking about KL Rahul, he scored 539 runs while playing for Delhi Capitals in IPL 2025.
