What is the process of IAS promotion?
IAS means Indian Administrative Service is one of the most prestigious jobs in the country. Every year thousands of youth dream of becoming IAS by giving UPSC exams. Once selected, the officer’s promotion depends on service experience, performance and the approval of the Center/State Government.
In general, an IAS officer takes about 30-33 years to reach the top post like Chief Secretary or Principal Secretary. That is, if an officer comes under service at the age of 25-26 years, then he reaches this high position at the age of about 55-58 years.
What is the salary of the Chief Secretary?
The salary of IAS officers is fixed according to their level grade. The post of Chief Secretary comes in Level-17, which is the highest level of central government’s salary structure.
