The highest hope for millions of employees doing government jobs at this time is the 8th Pay Commission. The eyes of every employee are on how much will be increased in his salary this time. Especially employees with Level-6 (Grade Pay 4200), such as Assistant Section Officer (ASO), are eagerly waiting for this change.
Currently, the basic salary of employees working on Level-6 is Rs 35,400 per month. But as the discussion of the 8th Pay Commission is intensifying, the curiosity to know the answer to this question is increasing-how much will the salary be now?
What is a fitment factor?
When a new pay commission comes, a coefficient is fixed to convert salary from the old structure to a new structure, which is called fitment factor. It was 2.57 in the 7th Pay Commission. Now according to sources for the 8th Pay Commission, this factor is expected to be around 1.92.
That is, if the current basic salary of the employee is multiplied by 1.92, then new basic is formed. If someone’s current basic salary is Rs 35,400, then the new basic salary will be around Rs 67,968 if it is multiplied by 1.92. That is, your basic salary can reach about 68 thousand rupees directly.
Basic will not increase only in salary, allowances will also be doubled
Along with the new basic salary, there will be a tremendous increase in allowances. The largest part of these will be the house rent allowance (HRA). If an employee is posted in a big city like Delhi, Mumbai, then he can get up to 30 percent of Basic in the form of HRA. In such a situation, HRA can be around Rs 20,400 on a basic salary of 68 thousand rupees.
Apart from this, employees also get travel allowance (TA). It can be up to Rs 3600 per month for big cities. Whereas dearness allowance (DA) is initially reduced to zero (0%) as soon as the new Pay Commission is implemented because its calculation is contained in the new salary itself. Over time, this allowance increases again, causing more salary.

So how much will come in hand overall?
If we add Rs 20,400 HRA and Rs 3600 TA with a basic salary of 68 thousand, then your total salary can be around Rs 92,000 per month. If some cuttings like PF, tax etc. are removed from this, then a net salary of about 82,000 to 85,000 rupees can come in the hand.
