India’s Test captain Shubman Gill has won the Special Award for the International Cricket Council (ICC). Gill has won the ICC Player of the Month Award. The race to win the award with Gill included England Test captain Ben Stokes and South Africa’s all -rounder Vian Mulder. However, Gill has won the Player of the Month Award for the month of July, beating both these all -rounders.
25 -year -old Shubman Gill scored 754 runs in the Test series against England. He scored 567 runs in three Tests played in July at an excellent average of 94.50, including a double century. After becoming the ICC Player of the Month, Shubman Gill said, “I feel very good at winning the ICC Player of the Month Award for the month of July. This time it is even more special, because after becoming captain, I have received this award in my first series. Birmingham’s double century will be one of my most memorable moments. I want to thank me for this Award.”
Shubman Gill won this award of ICC for the fourth time
Please tell that Shubman Gill has won the ICC Mains Player of the Month Award for the fourth time. Prior to this, he has won this award in February 2025, January 2023 and September 2023. He is the only player in the world to win the ICC Mains Player of the Month Award four times.
The highest run as captain in a Test series
Shubman Gill broke a great record of veteran Sunil Gavaskar in the Test series against England. Gill became the Indian captain to score the most runs in this series. Gill was captaining India for the first time in a series and he made this record his name. Gavaskar scored 732 runs in a series against West Indies in 1978.
