A huge update has emerged on the Indian squad for the Asia Cup 2025. It is reported that Shubman Gill will not get admission in the T20 team, while the speculation of making him the vice -captain of T20 team was in full swing. On the other hand, Yashasvi Jaiswal can also stay out of the smallest format for the moment. According to Sportstar, Gill-Jayaswal will currently be out of the T20 squad, while Shreyas Iyer’s entry looks confirmed.
Gill and Jaiswal have no place
According to a report published in Sportstar, the selector and the team management is unanimous on the middle order batting for the Asia Cup, as the UAE pitch may remain slow. Shubman Gill last played a T20 match in July 2024, after which he has been kept out of small format consecutively. Now according to the new update, Gill can also stay out of the Asia Cup. On the other hand, Jaiswal, who has a strike rate of more than 36 average 164 in T20, can also be excluded.
If Shreyas comes, Rinku-Dubey out
According to this report, if Shreyas Iyer gets a place, then the difficulties of Shivam Dubey or Rinku Singh may increase. Both of them played against England in India’s last T20 series. Ever since Gautam Gambhir has become the head coach, Rinku has scored only 190 runs in 13 innings, which has not a single fifty. At the same time, if the series against England is left, Dubey has also disappointed with his performance.
The selection of Jitesh Sharma has almost been approved. However, Sanju Samson has been the first choice of wicketkeeper for the last one year. Jitesh Sharma play in the playing XI or not, but his entry in the squad is almost sure. The selectors have not yet taken a final decision regarding Jaspreet Bumrah. Bumrah had earlier played three Tests in England due to workload.
