Chinese ev company byd: The world’s largest company in electrical vehicles, Byd, is going to build its first manufacture plant in India. According to a Business Standard report, the location for this has been selected in Rangaiddy district of Telangana, about 60 km from Hyderabad. The company has taken this decision to deal with the growing tariffs in the US and European Union, which has said to impose heavy duty on the import of Chinese goods.

BYD is expected to partner with Hyderabad -based Megha Engineering and Infrastructure Limited (Meil) to comply with Indian rules. Meil will have more stake in this. Byd is going to have an entry in India at a time when the export of Chinese electric vehicle is banned due to tension with the US and the European Union.
On the one hand, the European union has imposed tariffs up to 35.3 percent on the import of Chinese electric vehicle. Whereas byd is facing tariffs at the rate of 27 percent in Europe. Meanwhile, the US has also increased the tariff four times to 100 percent on the import of Chinese electric vehicle. India’s EV policy and increasing demand for electric vehicles in the country is in favor of China.
Tesla may face tough competition in India
Bayd (Build Your Dreams), made in 1995 as a battery manufacturer, entered the autoutomotive sector in 2003. In 2024, its cars sold more than Tesla worldwide. Tesla’s market share in China has fallen from 16 percent to 4.3 percent in 2022 in 2022 as BYD’s grip in the market is getting stronger. Now the question comes that will BYD be ahead of Tesla in India too? The answer will be found in the coming years.

- The biggest feature of Byd is that its super e-plateform gives a charging speed of up to 1000 kW, which is doubled from Tesla’s 500 kW charging speed.
- Along with this, blade batteries have been used in it, which supports 10C charging multiplier. Due to this, the battery is fully charged in just 6 minutes.
- Many of its models can swim in water as well as bumpy paths. It has many other electronic features, which makes it number one.
