Landslide has caused havoc in the Darfur region of western Sudan. More than 1,000 people died in this horrific accident. The accident occurred on 31 August in the Marra Mountains area, where it was receiving heavy rains for several days. Sudan Liberation Movement/Army confirmed the incident on Monday (2 September).
The organization said that in this horrific tragedy, the people of the entire village were killed and only one person survived. A large number of women and children are also included in the dead. The organization has appealed to the United Nations (UN) and International Relief Agencies to immediately send humanitarian aid and help to remove bodies. He says that relief and rescue operations are getting very difficult because the village is completely buried under the debris.
People struggling with war and hunger in Sudan
The people of Sudan are already facing the war of civil war. For the last two years, there is a fight between Sudani Army and Paramilitary Rapid Support Force (RSF). Many people have taken shelter in the Marra mountain area after saving their lives from this fight, but there is also a shortage of food and medicines here. Due to civil war, more than half of the country’s population is in danger of hunger. Now the new tragedy of landslides has increased their difficulties.
