A woman dies after being buried in debris
A woman died after being buried in the debris of a collapsed house after heavy rains in Samloh village of Solan district late on Monday night. The deceased has been identified as Hemlata. Her husband Heim Ram, 4 children and 85 -year -old disabled mother -in -law suffered minor injuries.
In another incident, a man and a woman were rescued from the debris after a house collapsed after rains in Dhalpur in Kullu. Police said that the woman later died. Detailed information about the dead is awaited.
7 lakh assistance to damaged houses
Meanwhile, Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu said that the state has been declared disaster affected and he appealed to the opposition Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) to get a special relief package from the Center.
The Chief Minister said that Himachal Pradesh has been declared a disaster affected state from the government and people whose houses have been completely damaged will be given financial assistance of Rs 7 lakh and if the goods inside the house have been destroyed, then additional Rs 70,000 will be given.
Strong possibility of landslide in many places
The Chief Minister said that one lakh rupees will be given for partially damaged houses. An order has been issued to close all government and private educational institutions including coaching centers and nursing institutions in the capital Shimla on Wednesday.
In an order issued on Tuesday evening, Deputy Commissioner Anupam Kashyap said that Shimla has been raining continuously for the last few days and in the forecast of the Indian Geological Survey, there has been a strong possibility of landslides at many places in the district.
