Indian cricketer Amit Mishra announced his retirement from all formats of cricket on Thursday, September 4. The legendary leg -spinner made his debut for India in 2003, he played in IPL till 2024. Amit Mishra wrote, “Today, after 25 years, I am announcing retirement from cricket. A game that has been my first love, my teacher and the biggest source of my happiness.”
Amit Mishra further wrote in his retirement post, “This journey has been full of countless feelings. Proud, difficulties, learning and love moment.
Made international debut in 2003
Amit Mishra played his first international match against South Africa in 2003. This was an ODI match. 5 years later, he made Tests in 2008 and T20 in 2010. He played 22 Tests, 36 ODIs and 10 T20 matches in his international cricket, including 76, 64 and 16 wickets respectively.
Amit Mishra further wrote, “From early days of struggles and sacrifices to the fabulous moments spent on the field, every chapter has been an experience that made me better as a cricketer and a human.

Amit Mishra’s last international match
Amit Mishra played his last Test match on December 2016. Earlier in October, he played ODI against New Zealand on 29 October, he proved to be his last ODI. He got a chance to play for the last time in T20 on 1 February 2017, the match was played against England in Bengaluru.

Leg spinner played for 4 teams in the IPL, he was a part of the tournament from the beginning and played for the last time in 2024. His journey started with Delhi Capitals and ended in Lucknow Super Giants. He played a total of 162 matches in the IPL, with 174 wickets in his name.
