On the day of Anant Chaturdashi, Ganeshotsav, the biggest festival of Maharashtra, concluded with the immersion of Ganesh idols. Before the immersion of Ganesh idols in Mumbai city, many grand processions were taken out in which a large amount of devotees were seen.
At the same time, millions of people participated in the procession of Raja of Lalbagh, the most famous Ganapati pandal of the country. The crowd gathered to see Bappa fulfilled their wishes, but many devotees were defrauded by the thieves.
Many devotees’ mobiles, purses disappeared
Millions of devotees thronged during a long journey of about 33 to 35 hours from Lalbagh to Girgaon Chowpatty. In this crowd, thieves became silver. Hundreds of devotees were stolen mobiles, purses, cash and jewelery.
According to Mumbai police sources, more than 100 cases of mobile theft were reported during the immersion procession of Lalbagcha Raja. So far, the police have officially registered 10 cases, out of which 4 have been revealed and 4 accused have been arrested.
Ban on drone without permission in Mumbai
7 cases of gold chain snatching were registered, out of which 6 have been revealed. Two chains have been recovered and 12 accused have been detained. Police is searching for other accused with the help of CCTV footage. At the same time, Bhoiwara police of Mumbai have also registered cases related to the use of drones. Significantly, there is a ban on blowing drones without permission in Mumbai.
Despite tight security and police deployment, technical use during Ganeshotsav, these incidents have created serious concerns. The police have appealed to the citizens to be cautious and keep their mobile phones, jewelery and precious items safe while attending such crowded religious events.
