Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray launched a scathing attack on the central government and BJP over the upcoming India-Pakistan cricket match. Thackeray said that patriotism is being traded today, patriotism is not visible anywhere in front of real issues. He raised the question whether the Defense Minister would say that the operation sindoor is over?
Uddhav Thackeray reminded that Lieutenant Colonel Sophia Qureshi was called the sister of Pakistan, now the government should tell what will they do for him? He said that whenever the opportunity comes, the BJP asks to raise slogans of Pakistan Murdabad. Thackeray claimed that the Shiv Sena would perform prohibition of this match across the state.
Shiv Sena will register protest against vermilion campaign
Uddhav Thackeray announced that like every house sindoor, Shiv Sena women workers will collect vermilion from every house and send it to Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He said that if Modi ji has to take a true stand, then he should boycott this match. If BCCI Secretary Jai Shah goes there, will he also be called a traitor and will those who watch this match be called a traitor?
Shiv Sena will run this campaign in the entire state under the name ‘Majha Kumkum Majha Desh’. Thackeray said that he has made this appeal in Hindi so that people of other states can also understand why this protest is being done.
Government targeted government with international examples
Giving examples of boycott of sports events on the international stage, Uddhav Thackeray said that when Russia attacked Afghanistan in 1980, 60 countries led by the US boycotted the Moscow Olympics. In 1984, Russia boycotted the Los Angeles Olympics. In 2022, many countries including the US, Britain and Canada did not participate in the Beijing Winter Olympics. Thackeray argued that when big countries can do this, why not India?
Boycott of the match is real patriotism- Thackeray
Uddhav Thackeray was enraged by the BJP leaders that Pakistani player Javed Miandad was called in Matoshree. He said that Javed Miandad had come to Matoshree, but Bala Saheb Thackeray never went to his house to eat cake. Modi himself goes to Pakistan and eat. BJP leaders do not have the status to question Bala Saheb’s patriotism. Thackeray clearly said that boycott of cricket match will be real patriotism and called upon the people to join this protest.
