US President Donald Trump on Tuesday (September 16) filed a $ 15 billion defamation case against The New York Times. Trump alleges that the newspaper has published false and misleading reports against him for decades, including allegations related to the late criminal Jeffrey Epstein.
Trump gave his social media platform Truth Social But wrote that the newspaper made his family, business, America first movement and Maga Has spread lies against the campaign for a long time. He called the New York Times a ‘Radical Left Democrat party’s hanger’ and said that the time has come to hold this ‘ever respected’ newspaper responsible. Trump also said that the case will be filed in Florida.
Even before media institutions have been sued
Trump claimed that he earlier ABC/Disney, CBS/Paramount For example, defamation cases have been won on the network. He says that the media cannot be allowed to spread lies and discredit them.
Controversy related to Epstein case
Recently, a house committee received some documents from Epstein’s assets, including alleged letters and photographs sent to Trump on his 50th birthday. It also had a woman’s sketch and a note written on it, on which the name and signature of Trump are told. However, Trump dismissed these documents and said that he had abolished the relationship with Epstein long ago and these letters are not his.
Case on Wall Street Journal earlier also
Trump has earlier sued the Wall Street Journal and its owner Rupert Murdoch for reporting related to Epstein files.
Epstein scandal echoes
This scandal of Epstein has also echoed out of America. Due to this, Britain had called back its ambassador to Washington. Epstein died in New York Jail in 2019, while his colleague Ghislane Maxwell is serving a jail sentence in this case.
