A Taliban government spokesperson in Afghanistan said on Tuesday (September 16, 2025) that the Taliban leader has banned fiber optic internet (Wi-Fi) in an Afghan province to prevent immorality. However, there will be no effect on mobile internet, it is still active.

While the spokesman of the provincial government Haji Ataullah Zaid said that due to the order of the former ban of leader Hibetullah Akhundzada, the facility of Wi-Fi has been banned.

Taliban government will develop alternative arrangements

Provincial government spokesperson Haji Ataullah Zaid issued a statement saying that the Taliban’s supreme leader has raised to stop immorality. Apart from this, an alternative system will be developed in the country itself to meet the needs.

However, he did not share any information in this regard in this regard, nor did he clearly explain why the northern Balkh province was chosen to ban Wi-Fi or this action would be implemented in other provinces of Afghanistan after the northern Balkh.
