The demand for electric vehicles is continuously increasing in India. After Tata, Mahindra, MG and Hyundai, now Kia is also preparing to launch its new electric SUV Kia Syros EV in the market. According to leaked reports, the new Syros EV will come with long driving range, modern features and attractive design. In such a situation, this SUV can become a strong contender in the Indian electric car market.

The design of Kia Syros EV will remain largely the same as its petrol and diesel models, but some special changes will be made in it according to the electric car. A closed grille, new charging port, aerodynamic alloy wheels and some new design elements can be seen at the front of the car. This will give the car a modern and premium electric look. This SUV has to be made attractive to young customers as well as family car buyers.

Vehicle powertrain and range

Kia Syros EV can be offered with two battery options. It is expected to have battery packs with capacity of approximately 42 kWh and 51.4 kWh. The smaller battery pack will be for customers who use it daily in the city, while the larger battery pack will be designed keeping in mind those traveling long distances. This will give the customers the facility to choose the option according to their needs and budget.

Talking about the range, the variant with a larger battery can be capable of giving a range of about 520 to 526 kilometers once fully charged. If this claim proves to be true then Syros EV will be among the electric SUVs offering the highest range in its segment. At the same time, a model with a smaller battery can also provide range for daily needs.

In terms of charging also, Kia can equip this SUV with modern technology. It will have support for DC fast charging, due to which the battery can be charged to a large extent in a short time. Apart from this, it can also be easily charged with AC charger at home. Fast charging facility will prove to be very useful for customers traveling long distances.

Such are the features of the car

Talking about the features, a premium cabin can be seen in Kia Syros EV. It can be provided with many modern features like large touchscreen infotainment system, digital instrument cluster, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, automatic climate control, wireless phone charger and connected car technology. For safety, it is expected to get ADAS, multiple airbags, electronic stability control and many other advanced safety features.

Talking about the price, the company has not announced it yet, but according to reports, the starting ex-showroom price of Kia Syros EV can be around Rs 14 to 15 lakh, while the price of the top variant can go around Rs 18 lakh. At this price, this SUV can give tough competition to popular electric SUVs like Tata Nexon EV, MG Windsor EV and Mahindra XUV 3XO EV.
