Supreme Court Judge Justice Suryakant, while hearing a case, questioned that someone knows what is the situation of the judges. How many hours he works and how many hours can he sleep. Justice Suryakant, while hearing the case on Wednesday (September 24, 2025), said this, seeking to list the petition immediately.

According to PTI report, Justice Suryakant was also hearing the case along with Justice Suryakant and Justice N. Kotishwar Singh. Advocate Shobha Gupta told the bench that a residential house in Rajasthan will be auctioned today and hence the matter will be listed today. On this, Justice Suryakant said that he would not order any case to be listed on the same day until someone is being hanged.

Justice Suryakant said, ‘I will not list any matter on the same day until anyone is going to be hanged. You do not understand the status of the judges, do you even know how many hours they work and how many hours do they sleep? We will not list it on the same day until someone’s freedom is at stake.

On the continuous request of Advocate Shobha Gupta, Justice Suryakant asked when the auction notice was issued. He replied that the auction notice was issued last week and a fixed amount has already been paid as the outstanding amount. Justice Suryakant told Advocate Shobha Gupta not to expect the case hearing for the next few months. However, he later asked the court master to list the case on Friday.

Chief Justice of India Bhushan Ramakrishna Gavai usually hear such cases. He sits in a five -judge constitution bench. According to the procedure, if the judges are busy in the case of a constitutional bench or are unwell, then the second most senior judges hear the list of matters.
