Rajat Bedi’s father Narendra Bedi is a film producer and director. He has made films like Anam, Adalat, Bandhan, Jawani Deewani, Sanam Teri Kasam. Rajat Bedi recently said in an interview to Siddharth Kanan, ‘My father died in front of my eyes. I came from school and he came out of the room and fell. He started drinking alcohol and went into depression. They are doing well but there were some liabilities related to my grandfather’s films. My father was also fulfilling that too.
Rajesh Khanna did not reach for shooting
Further, Rajat Bedi said, ‘Then my father was assumed with Rajesh Khanna. He started 2-3 films with Rajesh Khanna. Rajesh Khanna felt bad that Papa was also engaged with Amitabh Bachchan and was projecting with him. I do not know real story. But my father Pune took the unit for one or two films and he was waiting for Rajesh Khanna to come. Rajesh Khanna did not come for 10 to 15 days and my father closed the projects. I think the heros of that time were problem. There was some issue between Papa and Rajesh Khanna, perhaps because of Bachchan saheb and also because of other things. So Papa went into depression.
Rajat Bedi’s father used to drink alcohol overnight
Rajat told, ‘Papa and Rajesh Khanna used to drink overnight. Papa used to smoke. His lifestyle was very bad. Rajesh Khanna used to leave at 5-6 am and all night he used to drink alcohol all night. Due to this, his career was also affected. He used to drink even in the morning till the film Sanam Teri Kasam and Kamal Haasan used to get very upset because when Papa used to go on the set, there was a smell of alcohol.
