A vegetarian passenger died due to serving non -vegetarian food in a flight in Qatar Airways. The family of the 85 -year -old passenger has filed a new case against the airline for wrong death. Family members claimed that 85 -year -old vegetarian passenger Ashok Jayvira lost his life due to the negligence of the airline. The accident occurred in July 2023 during the flight of Qatar Airways going from Los Angeles to Colombo.
Ashok Jaivira was a cardiologist in the southern California, USA, who was going from Los Angeles to Colombo, the capital of Sri Lanka. He had ordered a vegetarian food before the flight, but he was served non -vegetarian food in the flight. He tried to eat non -vegetarian food from all around and during this time a piece got stuck in his neck, which stopped his breath and died.
Family members of deceased passenger accused the airline
In the new trial filed by Jaivira’s family members, the aircraft’s pilot had also refused to make emergency landing during the incident. The pilot had argued that the aircraft was flying over the Arctic Circle/Arctic Ocean at that time. However, Jaivira’s son Surya said that at that time the aircraft was actually passing over the midwest area of America and could be easily diverted.
After three and a half hours, the aircraft landing, the passenger was dead
The complaint said that by the time the aircraft finally landed in Edinburgh, Scotland, Ashok Jayevira was lying unconscious for about three and a half hours. After this he was taken to the hospital, but by then he had died.
Jaivira’s family accused the airline of negligence
Ashok Jaivira’s family is prosecuting negligence and wrong death on the airline. He says that the airline should have made an emergency landing immediately, understanding the seriousness of the situation. The case falls under Monetriaal Convocation, which decides the responsibility of airlines in the case of death and injury in international flights.
