IND vs WI Test: Throwing the ball was costly for Yashasvi Jaiswal, ICC took the biggest action till date against the West Indies bowler.

IND vs WI Test: A controversial incident caught everyone’s attention during the ongoing second Test match between India and West Indies. West Indies fast bowler Jayden Seales found it costly to throw the ball angrily towards Indian batsman Yashasvi Jaiswal. The ICC has found Seals guilty of violating the Level-1 Code of Conduct and has fined him 25 percent of his match fee. Along with this, one demerit point has also been added to his account.

Ball thrown at Jaiswal in anger

This incident happened in the 29th over of India’s first innings. Seals was bowling when after a delivery, he threw the ball straight towards Yashasvi Jaiswal. The ball hit Jaiswal’s pad, although the batsman did not react in any way, but the umpires present on the field immediately noticed the incident and reported it to the match referee Andy Pycroft.

According to the ICC report, Seals has violated Article 2.9 of the ICC Code of Conduct. According to this rule, it is wrong to throw the ball or any other equipment in an inappropriate or dangerous manner towards or near a player.

Strange argument given in defense, still could not survive

Seals, in his defense, said that he was only trying to run out the batsman, but the match referee, after watching video replays from multiple angles, considered that the batsman was inside the crease and the purpose of the throw was not in accordance with the spirit of the game. Therefore it was considered an “unnecessary and unfair throw”.

Second demerit point in SEALS account

With this fine, Seals now has a total of two demerit points in his account. If a player scores four or more points in 24 months, he may be banned. ICC has warned that more strict action will be taken against such incidents in future.
