Full HD Vs 4K Smart TV: In today’s time, TV is not just a means of entertainment but it has also become a smart device. In the era of OTT platforms, gaming, and internet connectivity, people now prefer to buy Smart TV. But when it comes to the resolution of the TV, most people do not understand the difference between Full HD and 4K Smart TV. The result is that they either buy a more expensive TV than they need or they regret buying a low resolution TV. So let us know what is the real difference between Full HD and 4K Smart TV.

What does resolution mean?

Resolution in TV means the number of pixels present on the screen. The more pixels the better the picture. The resolution of Full HD (1080p) TV is 1920×1080 pixels. Whereas the resolution of 4K (Ultra HD) TV is 3840×2160 pixels i.e. almost four times more than Full HD. This simply means that you will get much more detail and clarity in 4K TV. The difference of 4K resolution is clearly visible, especially on large screens (50 inches or above).

Picture quality and color detail

The picture is very sharp and detailed in 4K Smart TV. Colors appear deeper and more natural, making the experience of watching movies or sports more immersive. Whereas in Full HD TV, colors are good but not as realistic as 4K. If you are watching TV on a 43 inch or smaller screen then Full HD is also a good option but its difference is clearly visible on a larger screen.

Internet and OTT content

Today most of the streaming services like Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, Disney+ Hotstar offer 4K content. If your TV is Full HD, then you will not be able to watch that content in 4K quality. However, to watch 4K content, you must have high-speed internet (at least 25 Mbps) otherwise the video will buffer frequently.

Price and value for money

This is the point where most people make a mistake. Many buyers buy expensive TVs just by seeing the tag of “4K”, whereas Full HD is sufficient for their needs. If your budget is limited and you want to get a smaller screen size (32–43 inches) then Full HD Smart TV is a better and affordable option. But if you want a bigger screen and premium viewing experience then it will be beneficial to spend on 4K TV.
