14 year old Vaibhav Suryavanshi has been dominating the cricket world for the last two years. He has been made the vice-captain of the senior team of Bihar for the first 2 matches of Ranji Trophy 2025-26, while Sakibul Ghani has been made the captain of the team. Suryavanshi has become the youngest cricketer to become the vice-captain in Ranji Trophy history. Bihar has to play its first match in Ranji Trophy with Arunachal Pradesh from October 15. After that, it has to play a match with Manipur from 25th October.

Just before the Indian team’s Australian tour, Bihar announced its squad and handed over the vice-captaincy to Vaibhav Suryavanshi. Suryavanshi has recently been performing well for the India Under-19 team on the Australian tour. He scored a century in 78 balls in the test match played in Brisbane. It is being told that Vaibhav has received this promotion for his talent and experience as well as his recent performance. He was the second highest run scorer in the Test series against Australia Under-19 team.

Vaibhav Suryavanshi made his first-class debut in 2024 while playing a Ranji Trophy match for Bihar. He made his first-class debut at the age of just 12 and the selectors of the Bihar team, sensing his leadership qualities, entrusted him with the responsibility of vice-captain. However, he could score only 100 runs in the first 10 innings of his first-class career.

Especially in white ball matches, Vaibhav Suryavanshi’s bat has been continuously on fire. Just a few months ago, in IPL 2025, he became the youngest centurion in the history of Men’s T20 cricket. He scored a century for Rajasthan Royals in just 38 balls. In the Under-19 ODI series against Australia, Vaibhav scored runs at an average of more than 41 in 3 innings.

In the same year, he scored 355 runs in 5 innings of the Under-19 ODI series against England at an excellent average of 71. These included one century and one half-century. While playing seven matches in IPL 2025, he scored 252 runs including one century and one half-century. But he came into discussion the most because of his strike rate of 206.
