Azerbaijan is considered a strategic partner of Pakistan and was seen standing with Pakistan even during Operation Sindoor. Azerbaijan has supported the holding of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence (CICA) forum in India next year, in 2026, which is a big red signal for China and Pakistan. This year Azerbaijan is presiding over CICA and this decision in favor of India is its own. Being the President of CICA, he has this privilege.
According to ET report, Azerbaijan is ready to support the proposal to organize the next CICA Forum in India. This will be the first conference of CICA in India. For the last several decades, the chairmanship of the CICA Forum has been with China, but now its chairmanship is with Azerbaijan and it has agreed to organize the next conference in India.
It is being told that the decision taken by Azerbaijan to organize the forum in India is its right as the President of the CICA Forum, which is not based on consensus. In such a situation, it is a big thing for it to take such a decision because during Operation Sindoor it was seen that along with Türkiye, Azerbaijan also openly supported Pakistan.
The forum will be organized under the Indian Council of World Affairs (ICWA) of the Indian Ministry of External Affairs. India has participated in the CICA Forum in Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan on 9-10 September. Nutan Kapoor had gone to Baku to attend the ICWA delegation program chaired by Mahawar.
