Tension is continuously increasing between Afghanistan and Pakistan. Pakistan’s Defense Minister Khawaja Mohammad Asif, the country’s ISI chief Asim Malik and two other Pakistani generals want to visit Afghanistan, but the Taliban government has rejected their visa requests.
Khawaja Asif-ISI Chief’s visa request rejected
Afghan Foreign Minister Amir Khan Muttaqi said the Taliban responded to Pakistani aggression on the border and achieved their objectives. According to the report of TOLO News, the delegation of Pakistani Defense Minister Khawaja Asif, ISI Director General Lieutenant General Muhammad Asim Malik and two senior Pakistani generals made three separate visa requests to go to Afghanistan, which were rejected by the Taliban.
Why is Afghanistan not giving visa?
Afghanistan refused to approve the visit, citing Pakistan’s air strikes on civilian areas in Paktika province and violation of airspace. The Taliban official said that no delegation can expect to come to Afghanistan when our citizens are being attacked.
Taliban is trying to send a strong message that it will talk to Pakistan only on its own terms. “During the operation, our friendly countries Saudi Arabia, Qatar and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) requested that the war should be stopped and we agreed,” Afghan Foreign Minister Amir Khan Muttaqi said.
China said- both countries should exercise restraint
After the worsening of the situation in this region, China has requested both the countries to ensure the safety of their employees, projects and institutions. Urging the two sides to maintain restraint and peace, China said, “Both countries are friends of China and neighbors of each other. Exercise peace and restraint, resolve mutual issues through dialogue and consultation, prevent conflict from escalating, and maintain peace and stability in the region.”
The Pakistan Army on Sunday said at least 23 of its soldiers were killed while more than 200 Taliban-linked militants were killed in overnight clashes along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border. On the other hand, Taliban government’s chief spokesperson Zabiullah Mujahid said that 58 Pakistani soldiers were killed and about 30 were injured.
