Premanand Maharaj Health: Premanand Maharaj’s health is not well for the last few days. Due to this, his daily pilgrimage has been stopped indefinitely. Even before this, his padyatra had been stopped due to health reasons. There are many speculations regarding his health. Many people from India and abroad are praying for his recovery. Let us tell you how dangerous the kidney disease that Premanand Maharaj is suffering from is.

How dangerous is the disease?

Premanand Maharaj often tells people in his sermons that both his kidneys are bad. Due to which he undergoes dialysis daily. He came to know about this in 2006, when he was suffering from stomach ache. According to reports, Premanand Maharaj is suffering from Polycystic Kidney Disease (PKD), which is one of the most dangerous kidney diseases.

If we talk about what it is, it is a genetic disorder, the main cause of which is gene mutation. In this problem, kidney cyst occurs, which causes the problem of high blood pressure and kidney failure. Most of the patients affected by this require dialysis or kidney transplant.

What happens in this is that the size of the kidney becomes larger, due to which the ability of the kidney to filter blood gradually starts decreasing. Due to which problems like high blood pressure, blood in urine and frequent urine infections can occur. There are two types of it, the first is ADPKD, which usually occurs in adults and the second is ARPKD, it is quite rare and this problem is seen in children.

Does this cause death?

According to a research published in the Aging US Journal, the risk of death in ADPKD patients is about 1.6 to 3.2 times higher than that of normal people. According to a medical study published in PubMed, the death rate in PKD patients in the stage before CKD or kidney failure is about 18.4 per 1000 patients per year, and when the disease progresses to ESRD i.e. kidney failure, then this rate increases to 37.4 per 1000 patients per year.

According to the report of the US National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases, if timely treatment is not received, PKD can eventually lead to kidney failure and this significantly increases the risk of death. Although there is no cure for it, however it can be prevented, such as if it is identified through kidney ultrasound, prenatal ultrasound, CT scan, MRI, then its symptoms can be prevented.
