West Indies cricket is going through a bad phase right now, but Indian team head coach Gautam Gambhir believes that very few teams have a purpose to play the game like West Indies. Gambhir also said that the ‘aim’ of the players present is to inspire the next generation. The Indian team won the 2-match Test series against the West Indies 2-0, however, in the last series of this series, the visiting team impressed and saved their team from an innings defeat. This happened only for the fourth time when India gave follow-on to a team and then the team had to bat in the fourth innings also.
India defeated West Indies by 7 wickets in Delhi and won the series 2-0. After this, West Indies head coach Darren Sammy invited Gautam Gambhir to his team’s dressing room. BCCI shared its video, Gambhir said, “When I talk about international cricket, there are many teams who play because they love the game whereas there are very few teams who have a purpose to play the game like the West Indies. You have a purpose, and that is more important than attachment and love. When I look at you, I feel that you can inspire the next generation of West Indies cricket.”
World cricket needs you- Gautam Gambhir
Gautam Gambhir said, “I know it is easy for me to stand here and talk about the performance, but I believe that you should take inspiration from the second innings of the second Test. You have a big objective of playing cricket and inspiring the next generation. Sometimes teams are looking for an objective, but they are not able to find it. But despite all the difficulties you guys face at home, the challenges you face, you have to keep a smile on your face, work hard, for the country. Playing and trying to inspire the next generation is the most important thing in West Indies cricket.”

Gautam Gambhir further said, “I want to say once, on which I have always believed. You may think that I am saying this casually but I am saying this from the heart. West Indies cricket does not need world cricket, but world cricket needs West Indies. When you wear the team jersey, remember, you have an opportunity to be special. Most of the players playing in T20 do not have this opportunity. Would.”
